She spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, in Davis with a Fulbright fellowship, working on insect biochemistry and biochemical toxicology. Then, she joined the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), where she collaborated actively in different research projects related to oxidizing enzymes from mammalian and plant sources.
After joining RUBAM, her main research interests are focused on the chemistry and biochemistry of sphingolipids, mainly in sphingolipid analysis (sphingolipidomics) and cell biology processes related to sphingolipid metabolism.
She has published over 140 research papers and reviews.
